Alphacool presents the latest generation of the Eisblock Aurora water cooler for Radeon RX 7XXX graphics cards. In order to dissipate the enormous heat generated by this generation of graphics cards as effectively as possible, the water cooler has undergone numerous optimizations compared to the previous model. The fin structure has been adjusted, allowing for very good water flow while increasing the cooling surface area. The modified jet plate with improved inlet engine ensures optimal distribution of water on the cooling fins.
The fin structure of this Eisblock cooler generation was developed in collaboration with AMD board partners. The fin thickness is 0.4 mm, and the distance between the cooling fins is 0.4 mm, which ensures very good water flow while increasing the potential cooling area. The jet plate features a redesigned inlay that distributes water pressure better on the fins and optimizes heat absorption. The adjusted water inlet helps the water to flow in at a better angle.
The cooler bottom is made entirely of chrome-plated copper, which is more resistant to acids, scratches, and damage than nickel plating. Chrome plating is much harder than nickel plating and is less likely to chip off. In addition, the chrome plating looks much more homogeneous and offers a shine that cannot be achieved with nickel plating. Chrome-plated coolers have only been used in the industrial sector so far to withstand extreme influences on the coolers.
The Aurora design of the Radeon RX 7XXX Eisblock generation is visually more calm and simple. The cooler is surrounded by a single O-ring, and the construction around the cooling fins and jet plate provides a clearer look. Thanks to the chrome plating, the illumination of the digitally addressable RGB LEDs is distributed even better in the cooler. The terminal design corresponds to the classic Aurora design.
Thermal paste & thermal pads
Included in the package is Alphacool's Subzero thermal paste, which with a thermal conductivity of 16 W/mK is one of the most powerful thermal pastes on the market. The electrically non-conductive thermal grease is particularly suitable for high contact pressures and can still be processed perfectly due to its viscosity of 850,000 TF. Alphacool soft pads with a thickness of 1 mm are used on the voltage converters and the graphics memory. The thermal conductivity of the pads is 7 W/mK. The pads for the back of the PCB are 3 mm thick and have a thermal conductivity of 3 W/mK.
